The Madewell Insider Sale is going on and everything is 30% off (if you sign up for their emails, that is.) I went in to my local store last week and found some items to try. After looking around, in store and online, I think I’ve narrowed it down to a few things from this sale, from clothing to accessories. In fact, if you are looking to upgrade your bag or find some very wearable leather flats, this is a good time to check out Madewell. Otherwise I’ve found a few to add to your rotation this fall. My favorite pieces are below:
The Melody Smocked Midi Dress
This dress was sold out over the weekend but magically it’s back in stock this week. Highly recommend this dress, I’ve had it on my wishlist for a while now and took advantage of this sale to grab it for 30% less. I am in the medium here and it fits great! I’d say it runs a bit generously, especially in the top because of the stretchy smocking. If you can snatch it, do! It’s a gorgeous dark hue for fall.
I styled it with their suede tote bag in the dark brown and a pair of black flats, both on sale!
The Dean Easy Straight Jean
You already know I love these jeans — they got a whole post to themselves yesterday. I’d highly recommend this jean if you’ve been looking for that not quite wide leg, not quite straight leg jean. These are high rise, with a hint of stretch and very comfortable. I sized up to a 30 (as I did in all denim this time.) and would suggest the same for a rounder waist or if in between sizes. (A few readers messaged me and said they had the same experience in store with sizing, many had to size up one.)
I styled it with this floral top and this suede bag I’ve been wanting for a while. This top I would also recommend but it’s looking sold out! You can find it here on Nordstrom, but it isn’t 30% off.

Denim Trapeze Jacket
I really love this jacket, but hear me when I say it’s not for warmth. It’s for layering, it’s more of a shirt jacket than a true fall jacket. (if you want warmth, try this barn jacket here!) For me, here in Texas, this is great news. I love the look of a layer but I don’t quite need the warmth yet. I am in the medium and it fits perfectly. Slightly relaxed so you could layer it, but overall TTS with a jacket fit. Barn jackets are in this fall and this one is a great option.
I styled it above with the matching dark flare jeans and a silk scarf!

Silky Maxi Skirt
I do love a midi / maxi skirt from Madewell. They’re a very simple style but I find that Madewell / J.Crew does them well. The fabric is thick enough you don’t need a liner or a slip and they fall and drape well so that there isn’t much clingy. I ended up with the 8 and it fits well, not too tight. If you are in between sizes, you could go up one size. I also think this is a nice piece going into the holidays, navy can be a nice unexpected holiday hue. Pair this with a similar navy sweater and it’s an easy chic look for the holidays. Just a thought!
Honorary mention: I loved this cardigan and kind of kicking myself for not picking it up when I had the chance. I am in the medium and it fits me well, but I think that if I wanted it to fit like on the model here, then a large would be a better size for my chest / shoulders. You can find this cardigan here.
I styled it with a pair of perfectly matched suede ballet flats in navy.

So what did I bring home from the try on? I brought the denim jacket, the smocked dress, the slip skirt and of course, the jeans. The bags I recommend are always their totes and I love their leather flats, I always find them comfortable and very wearable. I’ll link my favorites below.
