What I Wore Last Week-ish

Friends, guess what? I updated my site this week. Now this may seem like the most boring ‘update of the week’ you’ve ever heard, but get this: If you experienced any loading errors on my site the past two weeks, it was because I didn’t realize I was supposed to update all of my WordPress plugins for the past 3 years. 3 years!! I couldn’t get my site to load earlier this week and so I went to my host and was like ‘hey! my site keeps going down’ and they were like “ya no shit girl, it’s a mess in the backend. Maybe fix your lawn before you come complain about ours.” And so I did, I updated it all and guess what else it fixed? The comments section. Have you had trouble leaving a comment over the last 6 months? Well it wasn’t because I disabled them it’s because I didn’t update anything in three years and slowly things started breaking and that was one of the things. But now it’s fixed! You can comment again like the old days! This also makes me feel better because out of nowhere there was zero interaction and I felt like I was just yelling into a dark void. Note to self: dark voids do not silence me. I still yell ‘hey look at my outfit! you like?’ right into that dark echo chamber of the internet.

I’m going to be honest, this year has been a big blur already. It has felt like been one long week. So breaking down my outfits into what I wore last week is actually helping me keep up with the timeline that is February. Time stamps help too because I can’t remember when I wore what. I’m also trying very hard each day to get dressed and not rely on leggings. I do feel more productive when I’m dressed and overall I feel better. That’s why you’ll see me working from coffee shops a lot of the time, it helps to get out and work outside the house to be a bit more productive. Side note: I’ve not shopped at all this year and I’m feeling it in my outfits. A lot of rewearing around here, a lot of basics, neutrals, you’ll see. I hope you don’t mind. I’ve just not had the desire to shop and honestly retailers aren’t really giving me a reason too right now. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right places. Should I old school it and just go to the mall? Maybe I will for a cute Valentine’s outfit. We will see. Ordering outfits from my couch seems a lot more fun.

Thursday: WFH

I think I’ve worn this outfit before…but I guess that just means it’s a good one. I feel a bit masculine in this outfit with the dark sneakers so I added my chunky earrings and always on gold necklace to soften things up. This sweater is so soft and runs very generously. Every time I put it on I think ‘why’d I get the large’ and it’s the medium. So keep that in mind if you’re looking to shop this pullover.

Friday: WFH

I worked from home this day so as you can see I did not even bother to steam my jeans. This outfit looks a lot fancier than it is because of the colors. It really is just a simple tee with jeans and a cardigan, but it comes together so nicely. This is my favorite cardigan from Quince, but this exact hue (teak) is sold out. Lots of other neutral hues available still. I’m in the medium, runs big!

Saturday: Roller Skate Party + Patio with Friends

My daughter’s school had a skate party and then we ended up grabbing pizza on the patio with friends later that afternoon. I didn’t plan for this that day, skate party only, but this outfit worked perfectly for the casual afternoon. I believe it was 70 degrees that day – -in February — so this sweater was perfect. I rented both of these pieces and this sweater is one that I’ll miss when it’s gone. I’m in the large, but it runs generously! Also I can’t decide if I am keeping this purse or not. I have it listed in my pre-loved shop but then I keep reaching for it…is this a sign?

Sunday Night: Date Night

I had planned to wear this outfit on our anniversary with tights (super cute) but I didn’t end up taking it on our trip. Fredericksburg isn’t this kind of vibe, it’s more hill country and casual. This gives Dallas more than the Hill Country. And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s cool. This is Texas talk. I’ll stop now.

Anyways, it’s kind of hard to see here but this is just my favorite blazer over a skort and somehow it looks so chic. Originally I’d thought to belt the blazer, but I just can’t get it quite right. I’m not wearing a top, instead I’ve just buttoned the blazer all the way and it works like a top. No tights because it’s too warm to talk about for February.

Monday: Errands + WFH

These Gap jeans are the best. I will say though I washed them finally and air dried them and they did shrink up just a touch. Keep that in mind when buying, but overall I love them and the fit / quality. Some of the best jeans under $100 I’ve found in a while. I’m in the 30, they run a bit small / snug at the waist as I find all Gap jeans do.

This old pullover is from 2020 and has been a favorite around here for a while. I always find myself reaching for it in winter. Since it’s old Reformation and deadstock fabric, I couldn’t find a direct similar. But did find this fleece pullover from Aritzia that I liked!

Tuesday: Coffee Shop

I was lucky enough to try out some Spanx jeans and pants (post coming next week!) and I absolutely loved this pair. This is the high waisted wide leg pant, even though it doesn’t read too wide leg. I love that actually, it reminds me of pants I wore back in the 2000s in the best way. They’re very flattering and hold everything in without feeling too tight. I’m in the medium TALL and without heels, these drag the floor. I’m kind of on the line of regular and tall but I knew I wanted to wear these with heels so I’m glad I went with tall. But if you aren’t at least 5’10” don’t worry about the tall. They’re plenty long to begin with. PS: Spanx is having a sale this weekend! Looks like a buy more / save more situation. I also recommend the barrel jeans, but I’ll show you them below!

My Quince sweater tee is perfect for this in between season we are having right now! And it’s under $50! I size up to a large and like this fit.

Wednesday: Coffee with friend, WFH

It’s the damn polka dot pants again. I love them so much. They’re so comfortable but also so chic. I paired it with yet another Quince sweater…but also my favorite Quince sweater. It’s under $40 and is 100% cotton. I’m in the medium, it runs generously.

Thursday: Coffee Shop

LOVE this pair of denim from Spanx. Now I messed up on sizing — these are the large and they’re too big. A medium is my best fit. So go with their sizing guide, it’s spot on. I didn’t trust it and I should have. This is probably my favorite barrel shape, maybe even better than the madewell ones. Which I know is wild to say. If you’re a size 8, go medium!

This post should just be called jeans and a Quince top because…looky here. Another Quince top. It is my favorite silk top, though. I sized up for a looser fit.
